Deep within the captivating rolling meadows, lived a boy named Shepherd. His being was unadulterated, and unsophisticated. His main role was to look after his flock of rams.
Their low murmuring and the rustling of the breezes through the single tree on the peak were his only associates. Day after day, guarding his wards inculcated in him a feeling of quiet fulfillment.
However, there were occasional moments of loneliness, when the shepherd boy would long for fellowship. During one such occasion out of sheer boredom, the shepherd boy devised a mischievous plan.
Tales of wild beasts preying on sheep had been heard times and again in the town. So, the boy decided to exploit this fear and played a prank on the townsfolk.
One afternoon he dashed into the village shouting “Wolf! A wolf is preying on my sheep!” The terrified villagers ran up the hills to offer assistance but saw nothing threatening.

Moreover, it stresses how trust once broken, is difficult to earn back. It's a story as appropriate today as it was in the past.
